Photo libraries have a large range of photographs. Generally they require top quality high definition photographs that designers and other professionals are able to work with.

By far the most popularly requested photos are those with people. Shots can be of individuals, couples, families, groups, work colleagues or whatever, but to be successful they need to “stand out from the crowd”.

I have listed below some of the categories of “people shots” that libraries are currently requesting:

Business
Business people (men and women) communicating, at desks working, talking on the telephone, in meetings, using headsets, shaking hands, at computers, signing documents, taking notes, with stationery and so on.

Beauty, Personal Care and Cosmetics
Any way you pamper yourself. Shots of hair and hairstyles, nails, individuals applying lipstick, mascara etc.. Close-ups of lips, teeth, eyes...! Any grooming, acupuncture, massage, yoga and any sort of outdoor health activity such as exercising, cycling and so on.

Concept Images
Romance, Love, Success, Joy, Exhilaration, Stress, and any other emotions.

Relaxation and Leisure
 Individuals, couples, families, walking, reading, lying ..., or doing anything else which indicates relaxation, leisure and enjoyment.

Food and Drink
People preparing and eating food. Shopping, having drinks etc. (no brand names or logos to be shown)

Kids and Teens
Kids and Teens doing anything that kids and teens enjoy doing.

Sensual Shots
Intimate shots, sexy women or men, body parts such as legs, curve of the back, close up of skin etc.

Diversity
Different cultures in the same photograph in business settings and/or leisure activities.

Family
Any photos showing families involved in activities together. Mum and the Kids, Dad and the Kids. Mum and Dad and the Kids, or even just the kids together.

Are you a divergent thinker? Almost anything goes! Come up with a subject/theme that no one else has thought about and it could well be a winner.
